“There was a time when being a runner was all that mattered. Not how fast or how far, just the joy of running.”We are the “Humboldt State Old Boys.” As aging runners, we are guilty of memorializing the past because that’s how we choose to remember it. We like to think we were faster, stronger, and better than we probably really were. We’re a rag tag group of old teammates, made up of ex-world record holders, a few ex-American record holders, a number of former All-Americans, and mostly, just men and women who loved running. Guided by Coach Jim Hunt at Humboldt State University. Together we managed to create memories that have lasted to this day. This is our story.While we all came from different backgrounds it became a friendship built on miles. Shared stories of races won and lost, teammates, victories, records, injuries, competitors, and past glories are what keeps it meaningful.
