Homalomena Silver is part of a rare family of flowering aquatic plants within the same realm as Bucephalandra and Aridarum. Characterized by thick, beautiful silver-green hued leaves, Homalomena Silver is comparable to Homalomena Humilis in terms of shape and size but can potentially offer a beautiful silver sheen when placed under quality aquarium LED lighting. When grown emersed, Homalomena Silver produces soft, fuzzy foliage that slowly transitions to a glossy and waxy feel once transitioned to a submerged state. Because of its rarity, the likelihood of a local fish store carrying this plant is slim to none.
Homalomena species don't require excessive aquarium lighting to thrive as it is slow-growing and excessive lighting can cause algae growth on its leaves, much like Anubias and Buce. Homalomena is generally found in fast-flowing rivers across parts of Asia and South America and can often also be found as a common houseplant.
