This United States Army publication, Field Manual FM 2-0 Intelligence October 2023, represents an important step toward changing the Army culture and improving Army readiness by addressing the fundamentals and tactics associated with intelligence across the Army strategic contexts, within multidomain operations—the Army’s operational concept. This publication describes the role of the commander and staff in intelligence, intelligence staff activities, and how military intelligence (MI) units conduct intelligence operations as part of information collection. FM 2-0 also contains descriptions of the intelligence warfighting function tasks as well as doctrine on force projection and language support. The principal audience for FM 2-0 is every Soldier, Army Civilian, and Army contractor participating in or with the intelligence warfighting function. Commanders and staffs of Army headquarters serving as joint task force or multinational headquarters should also refer to applicable joint or multinational doctrine concerning joint intelligence.
