The Engineer Goby is a captivating saltwater fish prized for its distinctive burrowing behavior and striking appearance. Engineer Gobies are peaceful reef-safe additions that thrive in established marine aquariums with fine sand beds and stable water conditions. They spend most of their time sifting through substrate, naturally aerating your tank while searching for small crustaceans and organic matter. Their constant activity and burrow-building make them endlessly entertaining to observe. These hardy fish do best in tanks of 30 gallons or larger with plenty of hiding spots and open sand areas. They pair well with other non-aggressive species and are generally compatible with corals and invertebrates.
