Though many lives are absorbing page-turners, I still want you to know about my dad, Robert Thor Peterson.This 1944-45 WWII POW account is primarily drawn from my dad’s own words, with an effort to convey his tenor, emotion, and observations throughout the experience. A focused attempt was made to capture the story with the humor and tone as he told it, with little embellishment. The book also includes a bit of the history of the family from which he came and what followed the harrowing war experience, including the joy and healing that followed.I could never sufficiently record it all, nor could I tell Dad's Story the way it deserves to be told. However, I want to ensure that his children and grandchildren can hear or read his story—whatever part can be preserved. They ought to be able to read it and pass it on. These courageous men should not be forgotten—and will eternally deserve our admiration and respect.This manuscript is dedicated to heroes—there are so many—and all of the children and grandchildren.
