Cometic uses stainless steel for strength, rebound ability, and corrosion resistance. The gasket layers are embossed and coated on both sides with a rubber-based flouroelastomer (Viton) material designed to meet the demands of a wide variety of severe sealing, loading, and surface finishing environment conditions. The Viton liner is heat resistant to 2500 C or 4820 F. The center wedge or no liner layer of the gasket is comprised of a layer of stainless steel, which can be varied to accommodate various thickness requirements. The MLS gasket is ideal for both aluminum heads to cast iron blocks and aluminum to aluminum blocks. The strengths composition of MLS will also resist shearing created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. By design, the MLS Gasket encourages an even torque seal across the entire bearing surface which allows for reduced distortion gauge diameters."
