Bucephalandra Brownie Ghost is a lovely buce specimen that is characterized by its iridescent quality and deep brownish red and purple-blue tones that shimmer under aquarium LEDs. This gem-like aquarium plant is an epiphyte, like all Bucephalandra, and features compact growth with soft wavy leaves. When grown in clusters, Bucephalandra provide visual interest, delicate texture and also serve as coverage for smaller aquarium critters like freshwater shrimp and fry. These aquarium plants grow best when attached to natural materials like driftwood or aquarium stones.

While Bucephalandra species are adaptable and hardy, they thrive best in stable, mature aquariums. Bucephalandra tolerates most water parameters, but a slightly lower pH is preferred. This can be achieved by using pH-lowering aquarium liquids, indian almond leaves (IAL) or adding natural driftwood to the tank. Bucephalandra Brownie Ghost and other varieties of Buce benefit from steady water temperatures, CO2 injection and good flow. When choosing where to plant Buce, avoid dead zones in the aquarium as poor circulation combined with excess nutrients may result in algae growth on its leaves. Propagation is simple and can be done by gently separating the rhizome and reattaching as desired.
